Grandmaster Jun Chong
9th dan black belt Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido
As a perpetual learner, Grandmaster Chong has never stopped his training in Tae Kwon Do. He can be found teaching classes every day or advancing his expertise in Kendo, Iaido, Aikido, Escrima, and Jiu Jitsu.
An instant bond was made between Master Jun Chong and the Rhee brothers when they traveled to Los Angeles to help teach classes at his new school. It was in Los Angeles that Master Rhee got into filmmaking by being an extra in Master Jun Chong’s earlier films. Since then, he has gone on to become a film actor, director, writer, and producer and is responsible for creating the “Best of the Best” film franchise. Through his many successes, he has still stayed committed to teaching at Jun Chong Tae Kwon Do and considers Master Jun Chong as his martial arts master, mentor and big brother.

Jun Chong was born in South Korea and began learning Tae Kwon Do at the age of 8. Though innately shy, he eventually progressed to winning national and international competitions and knew early on that martial arts would be a very important part of his life. He immersed himself in various forms of styles including Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Judo, Aikido, and boxing.

Master Phillip Rhee began martial arts at the age of 4. Raised in San Francisco, he and his brother Simon both trained with Master Mark Choi, brother of Master Seo Choi, who was Jun Chong and Bruce Lee’s Master in Hapkido.

Mason Williams began studying at the age of 5 after being introduced to the art by his father, Master Greg Williams. Mason achieved his black belt at the age of 10 and decided that martial arts would be an integral part of his life from then on. He began teaching classes at the age of 15 and in college was a nationally ranked fighter for the University of California, Berkeley Tae Kwon Do team. After graduating, Mason returned and became Chief Instructor at the Wilshire Studio. In 2007, Mason achieved the mastery level of 4th dan and is thankful to be a part of Grandmaster Chong's legacy as he teaches the system that has made him who he is.

> Mrs. Ada Chong
Mrs. Ada Chong3rd dan Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido
Black Belt since 1993,
Teacher since 2000
Mrs. Chong has been involved in the martial arts for many years. Her original style was Tang Soo Do with Chuck Norris but received her black belt through Jun Chong Tae Kwon Do. She has since written articles for martial arts magazines and co-wrote a book on sparring with her husband, Grandmaster Jun Chong. Outside of martial arts, Ada is an Interpreter and Translator in Spanish (her native language) and an OSCHA consultant and trainer. She is also an expert knitter and gourmet chef; if you’re early enough to a Belt Ceremony you might be lucky to taste one of her homemade cookies and cakes!

> Mr. Armen Safarian
Armen Safarian2nd dan Black belt Tae Kwon Do/Hapkido
Mr. Safarian trained at Jun Chong Tae Kwon Do for 6 years when he received his black belt in 1999. He fought on the black belt team who won gold in sparring at our local tournaments for 4 years before moving to Colorado. He taught martial arts for several years at an affiliated school before returning to Los Angeles early 2010. Students enjoy Mr. Safarian's class because he brings out their "fire and spirit" while also providing a great workout and good sparring skills.
> Mr. Yong Chong

As Grandmaster Jun Chong's only son, Yong began training at 4 years old and achieved his black belt by 14. His martial arts knowledge includes Capoeira, Wu Shu, Jiu-Jitsu, Kendo, and various weapons like nunchuks and the bo staff, but his biggest passion is breakdancing (besides Tae Kwon Do of course!). Yong attends Pasadena City College and promotes his breakdancing crew in jams and competitions all over California. Check out his videos on YouTube, keywords "Zombie Hunterz."

> Ms. Stephanie Texdahl
Stephanie Texdahl2nd dan Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido

Stephanie is a late comer to the martial arts scene and began training when she was 28. Upon receiving her black belt in 2006 she immediately began teaching, and it is this type of passion that has led to her life-long dedication to instruction and the hope to eventually promote and develop a broader community of practitioners within the Los Angeles area. Her devotion has also expanded into other areas of martial arts to include a love of weapons and styles that compliment her Tae Kwon Do training. Stephanie’s weapon of choice is the nunchukas and more recently she has added bo staff and kamas.

> Mr. Woo Jin Park
Woo Jin Park1st dan black belt Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido
Mr. Park started Tae Kwon Do when he was 9 years old, joined the Jun Chong school in 1993, and received his first black belt at the age of 20. His background includes training in Hapkido, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Boxing. He was a professional fighter in MMA for 2 years with a record of 4-0 before going back to school to complete his college degree. He believes a martial artist should be well-rounded because you never know what type of situation you may find yourself in.
> Mr. Stephen Howison
Stephen Howison1st dan Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido

Stephen Howison has trained with Jun Chong Martial Arts since he was in 1st grade at the Jun Chong Tae Kwon Do, North Hollywood branch. He comes from a family of black belts including his mother Diane, and his 2 sisters Heather and Caitlin. He was a member of the North Hollywood Demo team and has also trained in weapons including Escrima, Iaido, and various other weapons. He received his black belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido in 1994 and began teaching at the Wilshire school in 2009. Stephen is also involved in the military and trained in the Marine Corp Martial Arts Program.
